Dr. Rickard Nyman
Rickard is a researcher and consultant specializing in machine learning for crisis monitoring and systemic risk analysis. He holds a PhD in Financial Mathematics from University College London.
From 2016-2024, he developed machine learning systems for conflict monitoring, including work at Hala Systems detecting evidence of airstrikes and conflict events in real-time text data streams during the Syria crisis.
The Nyman Crisis Index applies these analytical techniques to global geopolitical monitoring, providing institutional clients with real-time risk intelligence.

- Data source: GDELT Project (100,000+ global news sources)
- Update frequency: 4× daily (every 6 hours)
- Infrastructure: AWS Lambda + S3, deployed in eu-west-2 (London)
- Processing: ~1,000-3,000 articles per region per day
- Latency: Articles indexed within 6 hours of publication
